About South High School Baseball
Who:
South High School has traditionally had two or three squads: Varsity, Junior Varsity, and sometimes a C-Team. The development of a C-Team depends on tryout numbers.
South students from all grades, as well as 7th and 8th graders from Andersen, Ella Baker, Sullivan, and the All Nations program at Sanford, are invited and encouraged to join the team.
Tryouts held in March; students will be placed on a team according to skill level and experience!
Where:
South High School’s home field is at Van Cleve Park (located at 15th Ave SE and Como Ave SE, Minneapolis).
Varsity and JV will practice and play home games at Van Cleve Park.

Booster Club:
The South High Baseball Booster Club is a volunteer organization made up of parents and guardians of the team’s baseball players: past, present and future. Monthly meetings are held on the second Monday of the month, unless otherwise notified.
The primary function of the Booster Club is to collaborate, brainstorm and follow-through on different ways to raise funds to supplement what is not received from the school district. Booster funding is needed in order to provide an opportunity for ALL interested students to play baseball.
Volunteering is vital to our program, and your input is welcomed and important to the livelihood of South’s baseball program! Previous experience is NOT required – we’re all figuring this out together. Past fundraising events have included: an annual golf tournament, cookie sale, hit-a-thon, and omelet breakfast.
Fundraising also helps to provide: assistant coach salaries, off-season skill strengthening, skills clinics, equipment replacement, partial uniform costs, tournament costs, YWCA rentals, busing for practices, and a modest season ending banquet.
We invite and encourage all families to join and assist the Booster Club in supporting and continuing the strong tradition of baseball at South!
